Owens Reclaims OCCAC All-Sports Award
June 20, 2023Owens Community College Athletics has earned the 2022-23 OCCAC All-Sports Award, its eighth such accolade all-time, on the strength of three league championships this past season. The Express finished as runner-up in 2021-22 after claiming the top spot in seven of the previous 10 seasons. -
OCCAC All-Academic Honorees for Spring ‘23
June 12, 2023All nine league institutions are represented in the OCCAC All-Academic accolades for Spring 2023. Honored student-athletes achieved a 3.30 GPA with 12 completed credit hours during the spring semester.

Final Weekly Basketball Awards Presented
February 27, 2023Repeat honorees Devin Haid (Cuyahoga) and Hayley St. John (Owens) closed out the 2022-23 regular season by snagging another OCCAC Player of the Week accolade. Haid now owns three such awards this season while St. John earned her second.

Three Recognized by the OCCAC This Week
February 20, 2023Three student-athletes were selected as the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for February 13-19, 2023. Edison State’s Ella Hoene and Devonte Curry each earned their first career honor while Olivia Howard of Terra State brought home her third weekly accolade this season.

Players of the Week Announced for Feb. 6-12
February 13, 2023Brooklyn Green (Owens) and Brandon Lane (Lakeland) each pushed their respective squads to a pair of victories en route to earning OCCAC Player of the Week accolades. Green is back in the spotlight after receiving the same honor earlier this season while Lane picks up his first and Lakeland Men’s Basketball’s third award of the season.

Fultz, Haid Rise as Latest Players of the Week
February 06, 2023Two freshmen rose above the rest during the week of January 30-February 5, resulting in selection as the OCCAC Players of the Week. Camille Fultz (Clark State) earns her first career honor while Devin Haid (Cuyahoga) is now a back-to-back winner.

January 30, 2023Devin Haid (Cuyahoga) and Lauren Perry (Lakeland) both gathered all the votes for this week’s OCCAC Player of the Week recognition (Jan. 23-29). Haid is a first-time honoree while Perry defends her standing with her second straight award.

Classroom Success Revealed in OCCAC Academic All-Conference Honors
January 25, 2023Grades are finalized and it is time to announce the OCCAC Academic All-Conference honorees for the fall semester. A 3.30 GPA or higher while completing at least 12 credit hours during the semester is required to earn the laurel.

Lakeland Duo Lands Player of the Week Accolades
January 23, 2023Lauren Perry and Jaidon Lipscomb, both representatives of Lakeland Community College, are this week’s OCCAC Players of the Week on the hardwood. The tandem and their squads corralled four wins in as many games played. The two programs are a combined 14-0 in OCCAC play and both sit atop the conference standings.

November 21, 2022The Triceratops duo of Quimari Shelton and Nekhi Smith were both unanimous selections as OCCAC Player of the Week for November 14-21. The pair of freshmen lifted Cuyahoga to a total of three wins in three outings.

November 14, 2022Ayendia Kimble (Clark State) and Trevell Adams (Hocking) were both unanimous selections as the OCCAC Players of the Week for November 7-13. Kimble, a freshman, earns her first career honor from the conference while Adams is now up to a half dozen after corralling five weekly awards a season ago.

Preseason Prognostication – OCCAC Basketball
November 03, 2022Hocking Men’s Basketball and Owens Women’s Basketball are preseason favorites according to the OCCAC head basketball coaches voting. The Hawks corralled four first-place votes while five other men’s programs split the remaining top selections. The Express had a stronger hold atop the women’s preseason rankings, bringing in 60 percent of the first-place tallies.
