Final Weekly Basketball Awards Presented

Repeat honorees Devin Haid (Cuyahoga) and Hayley St. John (Owens) closed out the 2022-23 regular season by snagging another OCCAC Player of the Week accolade. Haid now owns three such awards this season while St. John earned her second.

Haid and the Triceratops secured their spot in the postseason with two league wins last week. The freshman registered a double-double in both contests, averaging 18.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Haid opened the week with 16 points and 10 rebounds in just 23 minutes of a lopsided win over Terra State. He then stayed on the court for 39 minutes with 21 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in a tightly-contested 86-78 triumph at Clark State. For the week, Haid shot 52% (14-27) from the floor and knocked down 8-of-9 foul shots.

St. John and the Express went on the road to hand Lakeland its first and only conference loss of the season, pulling even with the Lakers at 9-1 in OCCAC play and corralling co-champions status. She did a bit of everything in the trophy-clinching performance, putting up 18 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. St. John converted on 7-of-12 (58%) field goal attempts.
