OCCAC Announces Basketball's First Weekly Honors of 2022-23

Malorie Schroeder (Owens) and Jaidon Lipscomb (Lakeland) both lifted their teams to a pair of victories to start the season, each earning the conference’s Player of the Week laurels. Both award winners are no stranger to this OCCAC recognition as freshman honorees a year ago as well.

Schroeder was uber efficient offensively, converting on 71% (17-24) of her field goal attempts, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc, en route to scoring 22 and 24 points in the two Express wins. Her consistency was also at a high level, garnering eight rebounds and four assists in both contests. Schroeder added three steals while committing just four turnovers in 67 minutes played. Her previous award came on November 22, 2021.

Lipscomb plastered the stat sheet with a total of 58 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block during the 2-0 Laker start. He sank 10 or more field goal attempts in each game and shot 54% (21-39) for the week. Lipscomb was hitting from deep as well, nailing a half dozen 3-pointers. His previous award came on January 10, 2022.
