Devin Haid (Cuyahoga) and Lauren Perry (Lakeland) both gathered all the votes for this week’s OCCAC Player of the Week recognition (Jan. 23-29). Haid is a first-time honoree while Perry defends her standing with her second straight award.
Haid exploded for 56 points in two Triceratops triumphs, shooting nearly 70 percent (22-32) from the floor and knocking down all 11 foul shots. In addition to averaging 28.0 points, he had per-game clips of 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.5 steals while committing just four turnovers in 71 total minutes played.
Perry logged all 40 minutes in the Lakers’ lone contest, a 69-57 league win over Edison State. She did it all in corralling 28 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocks. Perry converted on 9-of-16 (56%) field goal attempts during her second of back-to-back honorific performances.
