Wins, OCCAC Awards for Barnes and Schroeder

Jalen Barnes (Bryant & Stratton, OH) and Malorie Schroeder (Owens) were both unanimous selections for the latest OCCAC Player of the Week honors (Nov. 28-Dec. 4) after pushing their teams to a combined five wins in five outings.

Barnes was lethal from long range, sniping at a 55% (11-20) rate beyond the 3-point line. His marksman effort included a school-record eight made 3-pointers in a league win over Clark State. For the week, Barnes averaged 26.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals in a pair of Bobcat victories.

Schroeder corrals her third career weekly award and second of the season. She did it all during The Express’ 3-0 week, putting up 16.0 points, 10.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. The sophomore converted on 16-of-31 (52%) field goal attempts, including a half dozen made 3-pointers on 14 attempts (43%). Schroeder exploded against Terra State, delivering 27 points and 19 rebounds.
