Chargers Earn OCCAC All-Sports AwardJune 28, 2022Edison State Community College Athletics is the 2021-22 OCCAC All-Sports Award recipient. This marks the Chargers’ second such accolade in the last three seasons after not competing due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21.

Academic Accolades – Spring 2022June 08, 2022Spring semesters across the conference are officially wrapped up, and a plethora of OCCAC student-athletes have earned Academic All-Conference distinction.

2022 All-OCCAC Softball & Baseball AccoladesMay 15, 2022Ohio Community College Athletic Conference champions, Owens Softball and Clark State Baseball, garnered seven and five all-league honorees, respectively, including four First Team nods for each program. Edison State hauled in the most combined honors, totaling 11 between the two sports. Thirteen teams representing seven different schools picked up at least one laurel.

Week 10 Spring Athletes of the WeekMay 02, 2022Owens Athletics seized both Pitcher of the Week accolades for of April 25-May 1 while Mia Cipriano (Lakeland) and Ben Scartz (Clark State) were named Players of the Week.

No-hitter Pair Highlights Week 9 Award WinnersApril 25, 2022Two truncated no-hitters from Bailey Cravens (Lakeland) and Zayvier Beachy (Owens) resulted in OCCAC Pitcher of the Week honors for their 5-inning outings. Olivia Place (Edison State) and Ben Scartz (Clark State) rounded out the April 18-24 honorees thanks to offensive outbursts from each.

Another 5-Pack of Award WinnersApril 18, 2022Bryant & Stratton (OH) Athletics snagged three of the five OCCAC honors this week (April 11-17) while Kylie Ulch (Owens) and Jacob Savina (Clark State) joined the party. The three Bobcat honorees were Sam Goode, Dominick Prevesk and Tyler Schlick.

High Five for Five HonoreesApril 11, 2022Week 7 of spring sports competition brought along five weekly award winners from the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference. Lakeland’s Tatianna Matuz and Bailey Cravens swept the softball accolades while Clay Jacobs (Edison State) earned player of the week and a pair of no-hitters by Kevin Bellamy (Edison State) and Breven Deckosh (Owens) resulted in co-pitcher of the week recognition.

Slusher and Pine earned Pitcher of the Week honors while DeLong and Homage were voted as the Players of the Week.

Mockensturm & Charger Pair Secure Weekly HonorsMarch 21, 2022Owens Softball began its 2022 season with a Spring Break trip that included a 5-1 mark and award-winning effort by Maddie Mockensturm. The second baseman/pitcher earned the OCCAC’s Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for March 14-20. Edison State teammates Mannee Wells and Kevin Bellamy were named the league’s baseball player and pitcher of the week, respectively.

Clark State’s Kenny Blackmore and Jacob Savina share the Player and Pitcher of the Week honors with Jordan Long and Jaren Slusher of Edison State while Sommer Bourne (Bryant & Stratton) and Kayla Runyon (Edison State) haul in the softball accolades.

Besserer Joins Eagle Trio as Week 2 Award WinnersMarch 07, 2022Lorain County’s Mason Bessserer crashed the Clark State weekly awards party, taking home OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week recognition while Eagles Skyler Cox, Kinsey Kunz and Will Stultz snatched up the remaining honors for the week of Feb. 28-March.

LCCC took game one 11-1 and put up 23 runs in game two to win 23-13, both games ending after six innings.

Spring Sports (and Awards) are HereFebruary 28, 2022Spring ’22 is an exciting time for the OCCAC as eight league schools are expected to compete in baseball and seven taking the field for softball. This past week (Feb. 21-27) saw multiple schools lead off their seasons, and with that comes OCCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.
