DeVos Gets Second W; Commodores go 1-3 in Weekend Series vs. Hocking

March 22, 2022 – – The Lorain County Community College baseball team went 1-3 against Hocking College in two doubleheaders over the weekend at Sports Force Park in Sandusky, Ohio.

The Commodores offense sputtered to the start the series, dropping both games on Friday (9-2, 3-1) before coming back the following day to split with the Hawks (11-6, 20-16).  LCCC was boosted to victory thanks in part to Cody DeVos's (Pictured, Bay Village, Ohio/Bay HS) complete game, striking out six batters against seven hits.  DeVos earned his second win of the season.

The Commodores offense began to heat up on Saturday despite windy and rainy conditions off Lake Erie in Sandusky.  After dispatching the Hawks in game one, 11-6, the Commodores nearly erased an 11-run deficit in game two scoring seven runs.   LCCC was one batter away from bringing the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh.

Rocky Houston (LaGrange, Ohio/Keystone HS) started game two, going three innings pitched with a strikeout.  He was also a force at the plate all afternoon going 5-for-8 with a pair doubles and triples as well as six RBI.  Houston was one of seven Commodores with a multi-hit game in the second contest.

The Commodores will play their first Ohio Community College Athletic Conference games this weekend as they square off with the Lakeland Lakers for doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.  Friday's game will be played at Crushers Stadium in Avon, Ohio.  Saturday's games will be played at Lakeland.  Both doubleheaders start at 1pm.
