Besserer Joins Eagle Trio as Week 2 Award Winners

Lorain County’s Mason Bessserer crashed the Clark State weekly awards party, taking home OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week recognition while Eagles Skyler Cox, Kinsey Kunz and Will Stultz snatched up the remaining honors for the week of Feb. 28-March.

KINSEY KUNZ | Softball (Position) Player of the Week
Clark State College
Kunz totaled 10 RBI in a doubleheader sweep over the University of Dayton club team. She wrapped up the twinbill with an astounding 9-RBI performance that came up just a single shy of hitting for the cycle as her three hits resulted in a double, triple and homerun. Kunz scored four runs of her own after slugging at a 1.100 clip.

MASON BESSERER | Baseball (Position) Player of the Week
Lorain County Community College
Besserer went 6-for-7 (.857) as the Commodores blasted the Kent State University club team by final tallies of 11-1 and 23-13. The freshman was responsible for 11 runs, driving in seven and scoring four of his own. Besserer cracked two doubles and a triple, resulting in a 1.429 slugging percentage. He was a terror on the basepaths as well, swiping three bags.

SKYLAR COX| Softball Pitcher of the Week
Clark State College
Cox tossed a 6-inning complete game win in Game 1 versus the University of Dayton cub team. She would then pick up Win #2 of the day by owning the circle for the 8th inning of Game 2. Cox (2-0) struck out seven batters in her seven innings pitched, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks.

WILL STULTZ | Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Clark State College
Stultz went the distance in the Eagles’ 7-0 win over Terra State, one of four Eagle dubs in the 4-game non-conference series with the Titans. The sophomore southpaw’s complete game spanned seven innings and was absent of an earned run. Two unearned tallies snuck across on three hits and a walk while 13 batters were struck out.
