Many Making Transition From NJCAA to NCAA CompetitionAugust 24, 2019A plethora of student-athletes which competed within the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference during the past two seasons have signed on to join NCAA-sponsored athletics programs in 2019-20.

Five OCCAC Reps Earn All-America StatusJune 14, 2019Five OCCAC student-athletes were voted to the NJCAA D-II All-America Team in their respective sports for the Spring. Softball representatives includes Megan Mulhan (First Team) and Daniele Rivera (Third Team) from Cuyahoga while the baseball honorees were Sinclair's Mike Sears (First Team) and fellow Triceratops Brock Begue (Second Team) and David Espinal (Third Team).

Sportsmanship of the Year Awards PresentedJune 11, 2019Five student-athletes earned 2018-19 OCCAC Sportsmanship of the Year Award accolades, one from each of the conference’s sponsored sports. This represents the third year of the award’s existence.

Baseball Awards and All-OCCAC Teams AnnouncedMay 13, 2019Two dozen student-athletes earned 2019 All-OCCAC Baseball recognition, announced by the conference office on Monday (May 13). The 11 First Team honorees were highlighted by ’19 OCCAC Player of the Year, Mike Sears, and Pitcher of the Year, AJ Peter, while 13 more players garnered Second Team honors. Sinclair head coach Steve Dintaman was named the league’s Coach of the Year for the eighth time in his career and third consecutive season (2009-11, 2014-15, 2017-19).

Player & Pitcher of the Week Performances for Apr. 29-May 5May 06, 2019The final OCCAC Player & Pitcher of the Week accolades for 2019 have been voted on and the winners are Brandon DeWitt (baseball player; Sinclair), Wendy Hawk (softball player; Edison State), Brock Begue (baseball pitcher; Cuyahoga) and Cierra Chastain (softball pitcher; Sinclair).

Tartan Pride Sweeps Spring Regular Season ChampionshipsMay 06, 2019Sinclair Community College Athletics picked up two more Ohio Community College Athletic Conference regular season titles this Spring, winning both the baseball and softball conference crowns.

OCCAC Hands Out Weekly Honors for Apr. 22-28April 29, 2019Brendon Perez from Lakeland Community College broke through for his first career conference honor, named the OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for Apr. 22-28. He’s joined in the award alley by repeat winners Megan Mulhan (Cuyahoga, softball player of the week), Dominick Bucko (Cuyahoga, baseball player of the week) and Ashley Brown (Sinclair, softball pitcher of the week).

Stellar Performances Showcased in OCCAC Weekly HonorsApril 22, 2019Cuyahoga and Sinclair continued their dominance of the OCCAC weekly honors, sweeping the awards for April 15-21. Lexi Rehm and Dominick Bucko from Cuyahoga are the OCCAC Softball and Baseball Players of the Week while Sinclair’s Cierra Chastain and Drake Bauer earned their respective Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Weekly Awards for April 8-14 AnnouncedApril 15, 2019Cuyahoga and Sinclair are represented in the Player/Pitcher of the Week accolades for April 8-14. Triceratops Danielle Rivera and Brock Begue garnered Softball Player of the Week and Baseball Pitcher of the Week recognition while the awards flip-flopped for the Tartan Pride with Keira Teserovitch (softball pitcher) and Mike Sears (baseball player) picking up the honors.

April's First Weekly Awards AnnouncedApril 08, 2019Cuyahoga Community College continued its recent streak of heavy representation in the OCCAC’s weekly spring sport honors. Noah Laster of Eastern Gateway, this week’s Baseball Pitcher of the Week, crashed the party as the lone non-Triceratops winner for April 1-7, 2019.

Cuyahoga, Sinclair Reps Earn Weekly HonorsApril 01, 2019Cuyahoga Softball and Sinclair Baseball swept the OCCAC weekly awards for March 25-31. Breanna Musick (Cuyahoga) and Brandon DeWitt (Sinclair) were unanimous choices for the conference’s Position Player of the Week distinction while Lyndsey Baglia (Cuyahoga) and Jake Webb (Sinclair) also garnered all first-place votes Pitcher of the Week.

Huge Performances Lead to Weekly AccoladesMarch 25, 2019ompetition for OCCAC weekly honors was tough on March 25 as several strong nominations came in. Evan Knaus (Eastern Gateway), Megan Mulhan (Cuyahoga), Noah Richard (Owens) and Cierra Chastain (Sinclair) rose above the rest, however, and were voted as the Players and Pitchers of the Week for baseball and softball.

Diamond Dogs Earn Weekly OCCAC HonorsMarch 18, 2019Mike Sears (Sinclair) and Lexie Long (Edison State) earned OCCAC Baseball and Softball Player of the Week recognition for March 3-17. The two institutions swapped sports for Pitcher of the Week honors with Sinclair’s Ashley Brown picking up the softball nod and Layne Riley of Edison State bringing home the baseball award.

Five Spring Athletes Honored by OCCACMarch 11, 2019Week 4 of the Spring season brings five OCCAC awards with Noah Laster (Eastern Gateway) and AJ Peter (Sinclair) sharing Baseball co-Pitcher of the Week recognition. The Tartan Pride swept the rest of the weekly honors when Keegan Corbett and Hailey McEldowney were selected as Players of the Week and Ashley Brown was bestowed Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades.

Cuyahoga's Top-10 Win Leads to Individual Weekly HonorsFebruary 25, 2019Jake Williams and Jack Rasmussen, teammates on the Cuyahoga Community College baseball team, have been voted as the OCCAC Player and Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 18-24.

Spring Sports, Weekly Awards Have Arrived for 2019February 18, 2019Sinclair Community College began baseball and softball competition for the OCCAC with both Tartan Pride squads splitting their season-opening series. Baseball faced Chattanooga State Community College while the softball team took on Columbia State Community College. Four Sinclair student-athletes earned OCCAC Athlete of the Week status.
