SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Sinclair Community College began baseball and softball competition for the OCCAC with both Tartan Pride squads splitting their season-opening series. Baseball faced Chattanooga State Community College while the softball team took on Columbia State Community College. Four Sinclair student-athletes earned OCCAC Athlete of the Week status.

Sears went 4-for-9 at the dish for the week and recorded two RBI and an extra-base hit in each contest. He opened the season by sending one over the fence in Game 1 before coming back with two hits, including a double, and a walk in Sinclair’s 11-10 victory. Sears made his way around the base paths for three runs scored as well.

Sharritts was 3-for-6 hitting while drawing two walks. She scored a run and drove in another in both games, blasting a homerun in Sinclair’s second contest. Sharritts began the season by going 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base in the Tartan Pride’s 6-2 winner.

Brustoski was clutch in a tight 11-10 triumph, working the rubber for the final 1.2 innings and picking up a save. He fanned two batters while stranding three baserunners in the five-out scoreless performance.

Brown hurled a complete-game winner over Columbia State, striking out four while surrendering a lone earned run and just two tallies overall. She scattered five hits and two walks to pick up the ‘W’ in the circle.
