Thurman, Harris Earn OCCAC Co-Player of the Week Honor In Men's Basketball

Malik Thurman, a sophomore forward for Edison Community College, and Wesley Harris, a sophomore guard for Lorain County Community College, have earned OCCAC co-player of the week honors in men's basketball.

Thurman, who is averaging 19.8 points per game this year for Edison, averaged 26.5 points on 21-for-31 shooting, as well as 11 rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal in games against Clark State Community College and Lakeland Community College.

In a 70-67 loss to Edison, Thurman had 22 points, 10 rebounds (six offensive), two assists and two steals. Then, in a 93-91 loss to Lakeland, he had 31 points, 12 rebounds (four offensive), one assist and one block.

In addition to his 19.8 points per game, Thurman has averaged 7.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals over 24 games for Edison (10-14, 2-8 OCCAC). In 10 conference games, Thurman has upped his averages to 20 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.6 blocks per game.

Thurman and Edison will pick its conference schedule back up this Wednesday at Owens Community College at 7:30 p.m.

Harris, who missed the first half of the season, reached double figures in all three games last week as he averaged 16.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and three steals per game in games against Owens, Cincinnati State and Columbus State.

In a 103-78 loss to Owens, Harris finished with 20 points, six rebounds and two assists. In a 59-56 win over Cincinnati State, he had a team-high 14 points, nine rebounds, three steals and one assist. In that game, he had the game-winning basket. Then, in a 76-72 loss to Columbus State, Harris had 16 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds.

In OCCAC play, Harris is averaging 13.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game for Lorain County (12-14, 2-9 OCCAC).

Lorain County will hit the road tomorrow to take on Lakeland Community College at 7:30 p.m.
