Brunswick Helps Chargers Defeat Express

Piqua, OH---The Edison Lady Chargers hosted Owens College as both teams came in with the goal of trying to keep pace with the other top teams in the league.

Edison got a strong performance from Kendra Brusnwick on 9 points and 6 rebounds to help the Chargers in the first half, but the Express held a 38-32 first half lead.  

Owens did a nice job of shutting down high scoring Brooke Richards by holding her to just 5 points to help keep within striking distance.

The Express blitzed Edison to start the second half by getting all the second chance points and 50/50 balls to take the lead from the Chargers and went on to increase the lead to 11 points with 13 minutes to play 55-44.  

The Chargers changed it up on defense and their pressure started to effect Owens forcing turnovers leading to some easy baskets.  

Brooke Richards who was quite in the first half would play a big part in a run by Edison to get back in the game.  After Brunswick scored a fielder to take the lead 58-57 at 7:16 it was Richards with back-to-back daggers that helped the Chargers amass a 66-61 lead.  

Edison wouldn't look back as they went on to claim a 76-68 win over the Express.

Kendra Brunswick had an all around complete game to lead the Chargers with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists.  

Tori Purk stepped forward scoring 17 points inside and pulled down 8 boards, while Brooke Richards ended the game with 16 points.  

Owens Tech's Karahn Scott had huge game with double-double scoring 19 points while pulling down 22 boards.

Edison now goes to 3-2 in the conference and Owens drops to 3-2 with both teams remaining a game behind Cincinnati and Columbus State.
