Piqua, OH---The Express women's basketball team let an 11 point second half lead slip away in a 76-68 loss to Edison Community College on the road tonight.

The Express led 55-44 with 13:25 remaining after a field goal by Emma-Jean Ricketts. Following that, however, the Chargers held the Express to two points over the next eight minutes as they went on a 19-2 run to take a 63-57 lead with 5:49 remaining.

The Chargers would increase their lead to 70-61 with 2:30 remaining before the Express went on a mini-run. Mackenzie Heacock hit a 3-pointer from the right wing, and then Jordyn Bond stole the ensuing inbounds pass and dished to an open Breonna House for a lay-in to cut the deficit to 70-66 with 1:20 remaining.

That would be as close as they would get, though, as the Express were outscored 6-2 over the remainder of the game.

As a team, the Express were hurt by a 7-for-17 performance from the foul line and a 1-for-15 performance from 3-point range. Additionally, the Express turned the ball over 25 times.

Karahn Scott led the Express with 19 points, 22 rebounds and two steals. 

The silver lining, if there was one, for the Express was Scott's 22 rebounds, which breaks the single game rebounding record for the Express. The old record of 21 was held by four people, including Scott and Brittany Darling (she twice achieved 21 rebounds).

The record was originally set on Nov. 23, 1993 by Kenya Dixon. Scott had 21 rebounds vs Mid-Michigan on Dec. 22 of this season.

Ricketts added 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists, while Heacock had 11 points. 

Perhaps the top overall performance for the Express came from Bond, who had eight points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, five blocks and three steals.

Kendra Brunswick led Edison with 23 points, 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals, while Brooke Richards added 16 points and Tori Purk added 15 points.

The loss drops the Express to 16-7 overall and 3-2 in the OCCAC, while the Chargers improve to 12-4 overall and 3-2 in the OCCAC.

The Express will look to keep their OCCAC title hopes alive this Saturday at home against Columbus State Community College at 1 p.m. The Cougars are currently tied for first place at 4-1.

Ricketts now has 778 career points. She passed Unique Lane (768 points, 2007-09) tonight for 13th place on the career scoring list.

Heacock is now close to eclipsing 500 career points as her 11 points tonight gives her 492 career points. She is in 35th place on the career scoring list.

Scott eclipsed the 400 career point mark tonight and now has 407 career points. She is one of only 46 players to achieve that mark.
