Cuyahoga Softball Advances to Region XII District G Championship Series

Battle Creek, MI---The Cuyahoga Community College softball team has won their first two games in the Region XII District H tournament, and thus have moved into today's championship series. 

They will have to defeat Oakland Community College in one of two possible games to advance to the NJCAA D-II National Tournament in Clinton, MS.

May 8 - Cuyahoga 8 Delta College 1

Kayla Schmidt went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, Lexi Sheets went 2-for-4 with a HR and Allisyn Wills went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

In the circle, Jillian Coyle went 5.1 innings and allowed eight hits, one run and two walks while striking out six. Brittany Schnaars closed it out with 1.2 innings of one hit pitching.

"We got timely hitting from the start of the game highlighted by a solo homer from Lexi Sheets and seven excellent innings from Jill Coyle and Brittany Schnaars," said Cuyahoga head coach Bryan Komlos.

May 9 - Cuyahoga 9 Oakland 1

Sheets exploded with a 3-for-4, one run, six RBI game - including a walk-off grand slam.

Cuyahoga's offense scored four in the fifth and four in the sixth to break open a 1-1 game.

Coyle went the distance as she allowed four hits, one run and four walks in six innings.
