Springfield, Ohio---Christine Tylutki, a sophomore setter/right side hitter for Owens Community College, has been named this year's first OCCAC volleyball player of the week.

Tylutki opened the week by helping to lead her team to a straight set conference win on the road over Columbus State Community College. In that match, she produced eight kills on a .364 hitting percentage, while adding 14 assists, seven digs and three blocks.

Then, in the Owens Invitational last weekend, Tylutki led her team to a 5-1 record. She produced two double digit kill matches - 11 vs Monroe College and 10 vs Vincennes University - both of which are NJCAA Division I opponents.

In addition to that, she produced at least 11 assists in each match, including a season-high 26 in the win over Monroe College. She had 11 aces during the week, while also totaling 38 digs and 20 blocks.

Tylutki and the No. 6 Owens volleyball team are 10-2 overall this year and 2-0 in OCCAC play. Overall this year, the versatile sophomore has 85 kills, 201 assists, 16 aces, 77 digs and 31 blocks.

Owens will be back in action next Wednesday at home against Lorain County Community College. It will kick off a week of three conference matches at home as Sinclair Community College (Aug. 16) and Cincinnati State Technical and Community College (Aug. 17) also come to town.

Notes

Meg Reineke, an outside hitter from Sinclair Community College, and Rachel Geis, a defensive specialist from Cuyahoga Community College, finished second and third in voting, respectively.

This is the second career OCCAC player of the week award for Tylutki, who won it Sept. 27 last year.
