Reigelsperger's Big Week Leads To OCCAC Player of the Week Award

Macy Reigelsperger, a sophomore middle blocker for the No. 5 Owens Community College women's volleyball team, has been named the OCCAC player of the week for the third time this year.

Reigelsperger led Owens to a 5-0 week that included wins over conference foe Cuyahoga Community College, NJCAA Division II No. 10 Pasco-Hernando and undefeated NJCAA Division I Monroe College.

In those five matches, Reigelsperger averaged 14.8 kills, 4.4 digs and 3.8 blocks per match. She opened the week with 14 kills and three blocks in a sweep of Cuyahoga. In her team's straight set win over No. 10 Pasco-Hernando, she had 15 kills, seven digs and four blocks.

She totaled a combined 21 kills, seven digs and eight blocks in wins over Catawba Valley Community College and NJCAA Division I Spartanburg Methodist before posting a career-high 24 kills in an upset of undefeated NJCAA Division I Monroe College. Aside from her kills, she posted seven digs and four blocks in the win that dropped Monroe to 31-1 this year.

In addition to all that, Reigelsperger hit an efficient .424 combined over the five matches.

For the year, Reigelsperger has 382 kills, 214 digs, 14 aces and 119 blocks (40 solo). She is hitting .346 overall this year and averaging 3.50 kills, 1.09 blocks and 1.96 digs per set this year.

Reigelsperger previously won the award Aug. 30 and Sept. 6 of this season. This is the fourth player of the week award in her two-year career after winning it once last season.

Owens has now won 13 straight and are 27-5 overall. They will be back in action Wednesday at home against Lakeland Community College beginning at 5 p.m.
