Surge volleyball extends winning streak to four with victories over Miami Hamilton and Southern State

Hillsboro, OH---The Cincinnati State volleyball team extended its winning streak to four games with road wins over Miami University - Hamilton and Southern State on Saturday.

Beating Miami-Hamilton for the second time this season, the Surge won in a best of three format. In a 25-20 win in the opening game, Taylor Zingsheim led the Surge attack with 3 kills to go along with 3 digs. 

Losing the second game 21-25, Cincinnati State bounced back with a 15-8 win in the third to take the match. Lajoyia Whitney led the Surge to the win in the decisive third set with 3 kills and 2 blocks.

Against Southern State, the Surge won 25-11 in the first game and earned a 25-9 second set victory. The two games were the team's largest margins of victory thus far this season. Skyler Hembree led the attack with 5 kills. Carly Henkenberns recorded 8 digs.
After beginning the season with 8 straight loses to some of the perennial powers in the NJCAA, the Surge have bounced back winning 5 of their last 7 matches. 
The Surge, which improved to 5-10 overall, will host Sinclair Community College on Wednesday at 6 pm.
