Surge win home opener 3-0 over rival Schoolcraft

Cincinnati, OH---Playing in its first home game of the 2013 season, the Cincinnati State men's soccer team defeated rival Schoolcraft College 3-0 on Sunday.

The Surge, which entered the game ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA national poll, took the lead in the 4th minute when sophomore Kevin Walker scored his team leading 7th goal of the season. Bradley Gale (pictured), a sophomore from Poole, England, scored his 3rd and 4th goal of the season in the 42nd and 51st minute to put the game further out of reach as the Surge claimed their first regular season victory over Schoolcraft since 2010. 

Goalie Brandon Isaacs, who celebrated his 19th birthday with a shutout victory, turned away all six shots he faced.

Staying undefeated with a 6-0-1 overall record with a 5-0 record in Region XII play, the Surge will travel to face Muskegon Community College on Saturday. Muskegon, which enters the game on top the regional standings with a 6-1 record in the region, is currently 3 points ahead of the second place Surge.
