Parkland, IL---Competing in the weekend's "Kick for a Cure" soccer tournament, the Cincinnati State men's soccer team tied hosting Parkland Community College 0-0 on Saturday afternoon.

In extremely hot conditions in which the heat index reached t0 109 degrees, the Surge were able to dominate possession and the overall advantage in shot 28-5, with 21 of Surge shots finding the target.

"It was one of the more extreme conditions this program has played in since I have been here," Head Coach Mike Combs said. "We were the more conditioned team as we generated numerous scoring chances. We just struggled to find the back of the net today. Overall, I am still pleased with our overall play."

The Surge defensive unit earned their second shutout of the season as freshman goalie Ryan Hall was called upon to make two saves throughout the afternoon.

Currently at 2-0-1 on the season and ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA national poll, Cincinnati State will return to action on Sunday against Heartland Community College at noon in the final game of Parkland's "Kick for a Cure" tournament.
