Cincinnati, OH---Cincinnati State's Justin Mitchell scored three goals in the Surge's 7-1 win over Ancilla in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XII Tournament on Wednesday night.

Mitchell, who recorded his second hat trick of his collegiate career, scored goals in the 3rd, 37th and 56th minute of the game. Freshman Kyle Grothaus scored twice and recorded one assist. Bradley Gale and Tyler Gumbert score a goal each as Cincinnati State advanced to the regional semifinals.

"We seem to be clicking offensively at the right time. This team has just as good a chance as any to claim the regional title," Head Coach Mike Combs said.

The Surge will take on Owens Community College in the semifinals on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The game will be a rematch from last weekend when Cincinnati State defeated Owens 4-1 to split the conference championship.

The tournament semifinals and finals are hosted by Muskegon Community College (MI).
