Cincinnati State claims share of OCCAC title with 4-1 win over Owens

Cincinnati, OH---The Cincinnati State men's soccer team beat Owens Community College 4-1 to earn a share of the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference regular season title on Saturday.

Cincinnati State, which have won at least a share of the OCCAC conference title 8 times in the past 10 seasons, were led by forward Bradley Gale, who scored goals in the 5th and 60th minute of the game. Sophomore Justin Mitchell finished with a goal and assist. Freshman Tyler Gumbert also chipped in with a goal of a penalty kick.

"Our energy was fantastic from start to finish. We needed a big game from Brad and he delivered today. As a team, we have built some good momentum heading into the postseason," Head Coach Mike Combs said.

The Surge, who improve to 12-5-1 overall with a 5-1 record in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference, will play Sunday in the final game of the regular season against Ohio-Midwestern at 1 pm. The game will be held at Winton Woods High School.
 
With Saturday's win, Cincinnati State clinched a No. 3 seed in the National Junior College Athletic Assoication Region XII Tournament and will host in the first round on Wednesday at 5 pm. The game will be held at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. The opponent has yet to be determined.
