Sinclair, Owens Earn OCCAC POTW Honors

The OCCAC has announced its player and pitcher of the week awards for this past week.

In baseball, Sinclair Community College's Alex Anders took home pitcher of the week honors, while Sinclair Community College's Alex White took home player of the week honors.

Young went 13-for-29 (.448) with 13 runs, seven doubles, one triple, four walks, eight RBI and one stolen base over eight conference games. He also scored an additional run as a pinch runner during a non-conference game during the week.

Young is hitting .394 with two home runs, 27 RBI, 57 runs and 36 stolen bases over 42 games for No. 5 Sinclair (41-7 overall, 18-2 OCCAC).

Anders, meanwhile, went 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA last week. In his two appearances, he pitched a total of 11 innings, while allowing just two earned runs. He struck out 10.

In nine appearances this year, Anderson is 8-1 with a 2.24 ERA. In 52.1 innings, he has 47 strikeouts. In OCCAC play, he is 5-0 with a 0.56 ERA.

In softball, Lesley Ducat of Owens Community College earned pitcher of the week honors, while Owens Community College's Makayla Burtscher earned player of the week honors.

Ducat went 4-0 with a 4.60 ERA in 24.1 innings last week. All of her appearances came in conference play, and she struck out 24 in that span.

Ducat is 14-5 with 135 strikeouts over 143.2 innings pitched this year. She has posted a 3.36 ERA and has one save, along with nine complete games. In OCCAC play, she is 6-0 with a 2.92 ERA over 52.2 innings pitched.

Burtscher, meanwhile, went 11-for-24 (.458) in six conference games last week. She added nine runs, one double, three triples, two inside the park home runs, seven RBI and five stolen bases.

For the season, Burtscher is hitting .403 with six doubles, seven triples, three home runs, 19 RBI and 38 stolen bases. In OCCAC play, she is hitting .370 with one double, three triples, two home runs, seven RBI and eight stolen bases.
