Sinclair Baseball, Softball Sweep OCCAC POTW Awards

The Sinclair Community College baseball and softball teams each swept the OCCAC player and pitcher of the week awards for this past week.

For the week of March 23-29, Jimmy White, a sophomore outfielder, and Alex Anders, a freshman left-handed pitcher, earned the honors in baseball.

White went 8-for-15 from the plate with seven runs, two doubles, one home run, 10 RBI, four walks and one stolen base, while Anders tossed a seven inning shutout against Owens Community College. He allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out eight in the win.

Those two have helped Sinclair start this season 22-4 overall and 4-0 in OCCAC play. White even hit a seventh inning, two-run home run to tie help Sinclair comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the final inning against Owens this past weekend.

In softball, sophomore outfielder Alex Hendrix and freshman pitcher Haleigh Perry earned the honors. 

Hendrix went 4-for-8 with four runs, one double, two home runs and four RBI in a pair of conference games, while Perry went 1-0 with one save. In 6.1 innings, she allowed nine hits, three runs and two walks while striking out five.

Those two have helped Sinclair start the season 15-4 overall and 2-0 in OCCAC play.

Notes

All four players were also nominated for NJCAA player and pitcher of the week honors, which will be announced tomorrow. Kelly Wood of Sinclair Community College won the award last week.
