Sturgis, Smithberger Named OCCAC Softball Pitcher, Player of the Week

The OCCAC has voted Katie Sturgis of Sinclair and Chantel Smithberger of Lakeland as the OCCAC pitcher and player of the week, respectively.

In her only appearance of the week, Sturgis tossed a six inning complete game victory over Miami University - Hamilton. While picking up her third win of the season, she only allowed three hits and three walks while striking out three.

Sturgis is 3-2 this year with a 2.23 ERA. She has 13 strikeouts and two complete games. Offensively, she is also producing a .308 average in 13 at bats.

Meanwhile, Smithberger hit .571 with five RBIs over her team's first four games of the season last week. She opened the week with a 3-for-3, one run, four RBI game against Butler County - PA and closed the week with a 3-for-4, two run, one double performance against Alpena Community College.
