Sinclair Sweeps OCCAC Baseball, Softball POTW Awards In Second Week

Springfield, Ohio--- Sinclair Community College's Sean Darmafall and John Shutrump, along with Amanda Rose and Shelby Hartzell, have been named the OCCAC player and pitcher of the week recipients in baseball and softball.

OCCAC Baseball Player of the Week
Sean Darmafall, Sinclair C.C.

Darmafall, a 5-9 freshman outfielder for the Tartan Pride, went 6-for-8 from the plate with five runs, two triples, seven RBI and a stolen base in a pair of wins over St. Clair County Community College this past week.

Through five games, the Elyria Catholic product is batting .364 (8-for-22) with six runs, two triples, seven RBI, one walk and two stolen bases. He is getting on base at a .417 clip and slugging .545.

Sinclair (4-1 overall) will be back in action tomorrow at home against Tiffin University's JV team.

OCCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
John Shutrump, Sinclair C.C.

Shutrump, a 5-9 sophomore RHP for the Tartan Pride, went 1-0 over five innings in a 14-1 win over St. Clair County Community College last week while allowing two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.

The Mason (OH) product is now 1-0 over nine innings this year, which includes two appearances. In those nine innings, he has allowed just eight hits, two walks and four runs (two earned) with eight strikeouts.

Sinclair (4-1 overall) will be back in action tomorrow at home against Tiffin University's JV team.

OCCAC Softball Player of the Week
Amanda Rose, Sinclair C.C.

Rose, a 5-8 sophomore infielder for the Tartan Pride, batted .700 (7-for-10) with six runs, one double, two home runs, three RBI and four walks over four games last week.

The Northmont (OH) native missed the season's first four games, but returned last week to help her team go 3-1 in games against St. Cloud Technical, Itasca, Parkland and Hibbing.

Sinclair (3-5 overall) will be back in action tomorrow against Sauk Valley and Parkland.

OCCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Shelby Hartzell, Sinclair C.C.

Hartzell, a freshman RHP for the Tartan Pride, went 3-1 over four appearances last week. She went three innings in relief to pick up a 9-7 win over St. Cloud Technical. Then, she started and went 6.2 innings in a 5-2 win over Itasca. Following that, she started and went the first two innings in an 8-0 loss to Parkland before picking up a win over four innings of a 12-4 game against Hibbing.

Over that span, she produced a 4.14 ERA with 12 strikeouts and a 3-1 record over 15.2 innings pitched.

Hartzell, a product of Ansonia (OH) High School, has made seven appearances for Sinclair this year. Including four starts, she is 3-1 overall in 25.1 innings with 16 strikeouts and a 4.42 ERA.

Sinclair (3-5 overall) will be back in action tomorrow against Sauk Valley and Parkland.
