Kael Longwell (Hocking) and Breyton Reisinger (Edison State) were recognized by the conference office as the latest (Feb. 23-March 1) OCCAC Baseball Athletes of the Week.
Longwell, a freshman utility player for the Hawks, hit 8-for-14 with six RBI in four games. He went for extra bases on four doubles, leading to an .857 slugging percentage. Longwell added a walk and swiped two bags, scoring eight runs of his own in total. He carries a 4-game hitting streak into the following week and is coming off of a 4-for-4 performance that included seven runs responsible for (four RBI, three runs scored).
Reisinger was phenomenal in Game Two of a doubleheader sweep of Delta College. The freshman righty blanked them for a 7-inning complete game. He allowed just four baserunners (two hits, two walks) and struck out seven batters during a tightly-contested 2-0 win. Edison State’s lineup connected on a lone hit all game, but thanks to Reisinger’s dynamic showing, they were able to add six drawn walks and squeak out the victory.
