Weather, Individual Performances Heating Up

The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference have recognized four student-athletes for their efforts on the diamond from March 29-April 4. Christian Boyles (Bryant & Stratton) was named the Baseball Player of the Week while CJ Hartley (Clark State) and Avalon Gollin (Lakeland) shared the softball honor after posting nearly identical stat lines in a split doubleheader against each other. Lakeland’s Bailey Cravens rounds of this week’s honorees, tabbed as the Softball Pitcher of the Week for the third consecutive week.

CHRISTIAN BOYLES – baseball player of the week
Bryant & Stratton College (OH)
Boyles went 7-for-10 with a homerun, double, four RBI and six runs scored during a doubleheader sweep at Lakeland. The Bobcats improved to 9-5 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play. Boyles also stole a base after recording three hits in Game One followed by four more in Game Two. He slugged 1.100 in the double dip.

Bryant & Stratton has now garnered three straight baseball player of the week honors with three different honorees (Riley Day – March 22; Logan Wunderle – March 29).

CJ HARTLEY – co-softball player of the week
Clark State Community College
Hartley posted multiple hits, including an extra-base knock in both contests. She went 5-for-7 (.714) while slugging 1.143 with a double and a triple. Hartley drove in two runs and scored another.

AVALON GOLLIN – co-softball player of the week
Lakeland Community College
Gollin batted 5-for-7 as well and posted an identical slugging percentage (1.143) after ripping three doubles. She was a terror in the Lakers victory, responsible for five tallies with three RBI and two runs.

BAILEY CRAVENS – softball pitcher of the week
Lakeland Community College
Cravens hauls in her third weekly honor through a month of the season. She entered the circle in both games against Clark State, totaling 8.1 innings and earning the win with a 5-inning complete game effort in the opener. For the week, Cravens allowed just one run on nine hits and two walks while striking out five.
