Five Honorees for OCCAC Weekly Awards

Matthew Blanchard (Bryant & Stratton, OH) and Noah Curi (Clark State) combined to surrender just five baserunners (four walks, one hit) while striking out 17 batters in a pair of dazzling starts worthy of OCCAC co-Pitcher of the Week recognition.

Blanchard’s teammate, Dom Prevesk, earned this week’s Player of the Week honor while Allie Dodge and Savannah Wead of Edison State brought home the softball accolades.

Matthew Blanchard | co-Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Bryant & Stratton (OH)
Blanchard posted a 5-inning no-hitter as the Bobcats raced past Lakeland, 10-0, in the truncated contest. He struck out a half dozen batters while issuing three walks as the only baserunners aboard. This marks his second laurel of the season, also picking it up on March 27.

Noah Curi | co-Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Clark State
Curi fanned 11 Hocking batters en route to a 7-inning shutout. The freshman lefty went the distance, giving up only one hit and one walk in blanking the Hawks for seven frames.

Dom Prevesk | Baseball Position Player of the Week | Bryant & Stratton (OH)
Prevesk swatted three homeruns and a double during a 4-game sweep over Lakeland. He got in on a total of 14 runs, scoring seven and driving in seven more. For the week, Prevesk batted .455 (5-11) with an OPS of 1.989 after also drawing five walks.

This represents his second career winner after being honored on April 18, 2022.

Savannah Wead | Softball Pitcher of the Week | Edison State
Wead went 2-0 in a pair of starts for the Chargers. She occupied the circle for 11 of 12 innings possible, striking out a total of 10 batters.

Allie Dodge | Softball Position Player of the Week | Edison State
Dodge went 8-for-12 at the dish, including two doubles and a triple. She scored eight runs and drove in three more. Dodge tacked on two walks to raise her OPS to 1.714 for the week.
