
Julee Phillips (Cuyahoga) secured her third consecutive OCCAC Pitcher of the Week recognition, and was joined by another 3-time winner (twice this season) in Terra State’s Mason Johnson as the Baseball Player of the Week. Johnson’s teammate Cody Lindsey earned the pitcher accolade while Abigail Kadel from Edison State is the softball player honoree.
Phillips continued her tear with a pair of complete game wins spanning a total of 12 innings, allowing a lone run to come across. She struck out nearly half the batters she faced, sitting down 23 of 48 batters faced with a K.
Johnson picked up his second honor as a sophomore, posting an absurd OPS (on-base plus slugging) of 2.987. He went 10-for-13 at the dish, providing three doubles, five homeruns and 12 RBI in four games. Johnson registered multiple hits, runs scored and RBI in all four contests while also smacking at least one homer and drawing a walk in each.
Lindsey took the mound in Game 4 vs Hocking, delivering a 5-inning complete game shutout. He struck out five batters while allowing four hits and a walk in the blanking.
Kadel and the Chargers went 6-0 on the week. The freshman second baseman rattled off 12 hits, including two doubles and four homeruns, in 16 at-bats She was directly responsible for 25 runs, scoring 13 and driving in a dozen more. Her on-base percentage ballooned to .818 for the week after also drawing six walks.
