Five student-athletes representing three different conferences schools were named the OCCAC Players and Pitchers of the Week for March 20-26.
Lyndsey Baglia | Softball Pitcher of the Week | Cuyahoga
Baglia is back after an extensive hiatus, earning her third career OCCAC weekly honor. She was a back-to-back winner during the pre-pandemic 2019 season. Baglia’s return to conference accolades comes on the strength of a complete game win versus Owens. She struck out a half dozen batters in limiting the Express to three unearned runs on three hits and a walk.
Audrey Fyffe | Softball Position Player of the Week | Edison State
Fyffe was flying around the basepaths during a doubleheader sweep at Bryant & Stratton (OH), legging out four triples. For the four-game week, the now two-time honoree batted .625 (10-16) with a double, four triples, five RBI and nine runs scored. She record at least one hit and one run in all four contests.
Matt Blanchard | Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Bryant & Stratton (OH)
Blanchard tossed a one-hit complete game (six innings) at Hocking. He blanked the Hawks while allowing just three baserunners (two walks). Blanchard sat down nine batters with a K.
Mason Koons | co-Baseball Position Player of the Week | Cuyahoga
Koons went 14-of-27 (.519) with two doubles, a homerun and eight RBI during an action-packed week for the Triceratops. The freshman middle infielder came around to score 13 runs after adding five steals and three walks. He scored at least one run in all seven games played and registered four multi-hit games. Cuyahoga went 5-2 with Koons in the lineup with both losses coming by a lone tally.
Jackson Micheels | co-Baseball Position Player of the Week | Bryant & Stratton (OH)
Micheels was directly responsible for 11 runs (seven RBI, four runs scored) in three games for the Bobcats. He drove in two or more RBI in each outing and totaled four extra-base knocks (three doubles, a homerun). Micheels made a difference once on bath as well, swiping two bags.
