Battery Members Rule OCCAC Weekly Honors

The OCCAC Pitchers of the Week for softball and baseball were joined by a pair of catchers as the Players of the Week for March 18-24. Edison State’s Audrey Fyffe and Allison Davis swept the softball laurels while Brendan Hazuda of Cuyahoga and Jackson Grine of Owens are baseball’s player and pitcher honorees, respectively.

BRENDAN HAZUDA | Cuyahoga
Baseball Player of the Week
In addition to catching both games of a doubleheader sweep over Lorain County, Hazuda tore it up offensively with five RBI and three runs scored. He went 3-for-6 with a walk and a double for an OPS of 1.238. Hazuda posted multiple RBI and notched at least one run in both triumphs.

JACKSON GRINE | Owens
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Grine blanked Edison State during a 7-inning complete game shutout. He allowed just three baserunners on two hits and a walk while striking out 10 batters in the dominant performance.

AUDREY FYFFE | Edison State
Softball Player of the Week
Fyffe nabs her third career honor after winning twice last March. The sophomore catcher opened the week with a 6-RBI explosion before knocking in nine more by week’s end for a total of 15. She tallied at least one RBI in all six contests as the Chargers went 4-2 in non-conference action. Fyffe drilled three homeruns, two doubles and a triple while also scoring seven runs and allowing zero passed balls in 30 innings of work behind the dish.

ALLISON DAVIS | Edison State
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Davis got an early call out of the bullpen in Game 1 vs. MU Hamilton as the Chargers fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first without recording an out. She steadied the ship and opened the door for Edison State to storm back en route to a 13-8 victory. The freshman struck out seven batters while essentially tossing a complete game with 7.0 innings of relief to earn the win.
