Pitchers Repeat, First-time Position Players Complete Weekly Honors List

Julee Phillips (Cuyahoga) and Jackson Smith (Lakeland) both defended their crown as the OCCAC Pitchers of the Week, snagging the award for a second consecutive week. They are joined by a pair of first-time honorees for OCCAC Position Player of the Week  — Alexis Sheridan (Lorain County) and Jonathon Woedl (Hocking).

The softball stand-outs were absolutely dominant. Phillips surrendered a lone hit across two complete games shutouts totaling nine innings. She struck out 25 batters compared to only seven walks. Sheridan tallied 15 hits in 18 at-bats (.833) with five doubles, a triple, three homeruns and 15 RBI. The shortstop recorded multiple hits, runs and RBI in all four games during a 3-1 week for the Commodores. Sheridan slugged 1.722 for the week.

Smith blanked Clark State in a 7-inning complete game shutout. He thwarted all scoring threats, working around four walks and three hits while striking out four. Woedl was pivotal in the Hawks taking three of four games over Bryant & Stratton (OH) and another win at PSU Fayette. He went 10-18 (.556) with two doubles, nine RBI and seven runs scored. Woedl added two walks and two steals in his award-inning effort.
