Power, Patience and Pitching Showcased in Weekly Baseball Awards

Mason Johnson (Terra State) cracked a half dozen extra-base hits, including two homeruns, to slug 1.235 in eight games for the Titans while also drawing nine walks for a .794 on-base percentage en route to unanimous selection as the OCCAC Player of the Week. Noah Curi (Clark State) and Ayden Vollmer (Edison State) each tossed complete game shutouts to earn a share of OCCAC co-Pitchers of the Week honors.

Johnson was responsible for 16 runs, scoring eight and driving in eight more. He batted .588 for the week and upped the ante in a 4-games series with Cuyahoga, going 7-of-10 with two homeruns, two doubles and a triple against the Triceratops.

Curi is now a two-time honoree after also taking home the award on April 24, 2023. The sophomore southpaw allowed only a pair of baserunners (1 hit, 1 walk) while striking out nine batters in a dominant 7-inning shutout of Sussex County.

Vollmer blanked Mott for all seven innings of the truncated complete game, matching five hits allowed with five strikeouts.
