Four student-athletes have been selected as the OCCAC Athletes of the Week for March 3-9. Edison State’s Marissa Pine (pitcher) and Byson Arthur (position player) are joined by Coltin Chany (pitcher, Owens) and Isabella Kepple (position player, Cuyahoga).
Chany surrendered a lone run in a 6-inning win over Minnesota North-Vermilion. He averaged two strikeouts an inning, totaling a dozen by the time he came off the mound.
Arthur stuffed 10 RBI into a 3-0 week for the Chargers. He did so by going 6-of-10 with two doubles, a triple and two homeruns — including hitting for the cycle in the week’s finale, an 18-7 win over St. Clair County. The sophomore outfielder stole a pair of bases and scored eight runs while slugging 1.400 for the week.
Kepple rode a 6-game hitting streak through the week, totaling 10 hits in 18 at-bats for a .556 average. She flashed the power as well, smacking a homerun and two doubles to go along with six RBI. In both Triceratops victories, Kepple recorded three hits and two RBI.
Pine tossed a 5-inning complete game shutout as the Chargers run-ruled St. Clair County, 8-0. Pine struck out 11 of 17 batters faced, allowing a lone baserunner in the entire outing.
