Allen Lattimore of Hocking Men’s Basketball and Paxton Hunley of Edison Women’s Basketball both earned OCCAC Player of the Week recognition for Jan. 29-Feb. 4 after guiding their respective programs to a pair of conference wins that have them atop the OCCAC standings with less than a month remaining in the regular season.
Lattimore and the Hawks pulled even with Lakeland at 8-1 in league play by taking down the Lakers, 78-58, in a head-to-head battle (the two teams will meet again at Lakeland on Feb. 24). Hocking’s overall winning streak extended to eight games. Lattimore scored 16 points in both victories while adding 11 rebounds and six assists in 56 total minutes. He was on point from long range, dropping in seven 3-pointers.
Hunley becomes the fourth different Charger to corral this weekly honor. Edison State’s wins over Clark State and Lakeland pushed their OCCAC ledger to 7-0, two and a half games clear of second place. Hunley did it all in 64 minutes played, gathering 33 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, two assists and a block.
