Cuyahoga’s Quimari Shelton and Marcos Vazquez were both unanimous selections as OCCAC Players of the Week for Feb. 19-25. The Triceratops Basketball programs combined to go 4-0 on the week, each handing losses to Edison State and Terra State.

Cuyahoga Men’s Basketball could now field a ‘starting 5’ of weekly award winners as Vazquez represents their fifth different honoree of the season. He steered the offense to 176 points in the two triumphs, responsible for 42 points of his own while assisting on 14 more buckets. Vazquez shot 14-of-26 (54%) from the field and 6-of-12 (50%) beyond the arc. He added 15 rebounds and three steals to his stellar stat line.

Shelton snags her second laurel this season and the third of her career. She sunk 11 field goals in each game, averaging 25.0 points per. Her 13- and 10-rebound performances made for two double-doubles. Shelton was a menace defensively as well, swiping nine steals in total. A half dozen assists against Terra State was the cherry on top.
