Blevins, Jeffries Receive Top Honors for the Week

Emily Blevins (Hocking) and Howard Jeffries (Cuyahoga) were both unanimous selections for this week’s OCCAC Player of the Week awards.

Blevins is the first women’s basketball player in program history to earn OCCAC Player of the Week honors. She did so with a 15-point, 13-rebound double-double and a side of seven steals in the Hawks’ 78-74 triumph over league-leading Edison State. She was 5-of-6 from both the field and the foul line, also recording two assists and two blocks while never leaving the floor in 40 minutes of action.

Jeffries is the fourth different Triceratops to wrangle the conference’s player of the week honor this season. He filled it up with 67 points in a pair of Cuyahoga victories. The freshman power forward ignited the week with 43 points on 17-of-26 shooting, including 5-of-10 from beyond the arc, versus Lorain County. He then came back a few days later to deliver 24 more points at Edison State. Along with his 33.5 points/game clip, Jeffries tallied eight rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks while committing just two turnovers in 71 total minutes.
