First-time honorees Andre McCullough (Terra State) and Abbey Schmitz (Lorain County) are the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for Dec. 15-21.
McCullough was everywhere in a pair of non-conference wins for the Titans. The freshman guard stuffed the stat sheet with per-game averages of 18.5 points, 8.0 assists, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 steals. He shot 59% from the floor by making 17-of-29 field goal attempts, including a trio of 3-pointers. McCullough flirted with a triple-double at Marian Ancilla, totaling 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists.
Schmitz filled it up to the tune of 63 points in two games for the Commodores. She knocked down 22-of-44 shots, including five 3-pointers, and forced herself to the charity stripe, hitting 14-of-16 freebies. Schmitz posted a 36-point, 10-rebound double-double in a competitive outing at Kent State Tuscarawas. She also averaged 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists for the week.
