Ally Winnen (Lorain County) and Owen Bronston (Edison State) burst out of the gates and are off and running as the first OCCAC Basketball Player of the Week honorees for the 2024-25 campaign.
Winnen corralled 35 rebounds and 28 points in a pair of Commodore wins. She opened the season by hauling in a whopping 22 rebounds, including 14 offensive, and scoring 20 points against Walsh University JV. She came back with 13 more rebounds during a 70-28 drubbing of KSU Tuscarawas. The sophomore added eight assists and five blocks while committing just two turnovers in 52 total minutes played.
Bronston poured in 25 points and dished four assists in a 71-61 victory over Beaver County. He also swiped a half dozen steals and brought in three boards. Bronston netted eight field goals, including four 3-pointers, and went 5-of-6 at the charity stripe.
