Hocking’s Treshawn Cody and Lilly Weaver were selected as the OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week for Nov. 11-17. This represents Cody’s third such honor while the freshman, Weaver, brought home her first.
Cody made an early statement in the conference opener vs. Lakeland, the program that shared an OCCAC co-championship with Hocking last season. He dropped 33 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the floor and 7-of-8 at the charity stripe. For the week, Cody averaged 22.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game as the Hawks split a pair of contests when suffering a setback to #6 Parkland.
The Hawks Women’s Basketball team took their OCCAC opener, a 58-50 triumph over Lakeland. Weaver registered a 17-point, 11-rebound double-double in that contest, and delivered a pivotal block late in the game that thwarted Lakeland’s attempt at cutting the deficit to one possession at three points. She scored 17 points earlier in the week as well against Wheeling University JV. For the week, Weaver added totals of 18 rebounds, four steals and three assists while playing all but one minute in the two games.
