OCCAC Players of the Week for Nov. 6-12

Cuyahoga Men’s Basketball and Edison State Women’s Basketball each improved to 4-1 during the past week, and had team members earn OCCAC Player of the Week distinction. Devonte Green elevated the Triceratops to three D-II wins while Matea Bartel led the way during the Chargers’ pair of triumphs.

Green averaged a double-double with 17.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. He was incredibly efficient, hitting 24-of-33 (73%) field goals attempts and making no less than seven shots in all three contests. The freshman was a monster on the glass, hauling in 14 offensive rebounds to go along with 18 more on the other end. His efficiency went beyond shooting, taking care of the ball with just two turnovers in 64 minutes of action.

Bartel posted totals of 26 points, 15 rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block in 55 minutes spanning two games. She, too, was efficient in converting 10-of-15 (67%) shot from the floor and 6-of-8 (75%) at the foul line. Seven of her 15 rebounds were on the offensive end, producing a plethora of second chance opportunities for Edison State.
