
Dennis Pettis, Jr. and Ally Winnen of Lorain County Community College are the latest OCCAC Basketball Players of the Week (Dec. 30-Jan. 5). Both are return honorees as the tandem has combined for five such awards this season.
Pettis previously earned the honor on Nov. 11. He’s back after scoring 47 total points in two contests. The freshman guard also contributed eight rebounds, five steals, two assists and two blocks. In a shootout against Allegheny County, Pettis dropped 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting.
Winnen is now a 3-time winner after averaging 21 points and 17 rebounds in her two outings this week. She scored 21 points in both games, and matched it with 21 rebounds in an 81-53 win over Allegheny County (13 rebounds at SUNY Niagara). The Commodore center added nine assists (including seven dimes in the win), four blocks and three steals while shooting 61% (17-28) from the field.
