Player of the Week Trifecta

Treshawn Cody (Hocking) and Isaiah Masteller (Clark State) are the co-OCCAC Players of the Week for men’s basketball while Cuyahoga’s Quimari Shelton was a unanimous selection for the women’s basketball’s weekly accolade.

Cody climbed within one rebound of averaging a double-double in two wins for the Hawks, coming away with 28.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game averages. The freshman forward earned his second honor this season after knocking down 22-of-41 (54%) shots from the field. He also made a large impact with five total blocks. All this stuffed into just 48 total minutes played as Hocking built sizable leads in both contests.

Masteller was a walking bucket, averaged 43.0 points/game during a split week for the Eagles. He opened with 51 points in a shootout setback at Hocking before coming back with 35 more points in the victorious effort at Bryant & Stratton (OH). His efficiency was impressive, hitting field goals at a 70% clip (28-40), including 13-of-22 (59%) from beyond the 3-point arc. Masteller added nine rebounds and three assists to his weekly stats total.

Shelton took home the laurel once as a freshman, and now adds another during her sophomore campaign. She not only registered back-to-back double-doubles in a pair of conference road triumphs, but upped the ante against Terra State to the tune of 22 points and 20 rebounds. For the week, she averaged 25.0 points, 15.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. Her FG shooting was nearly identical in both games, shooting 10-of-20 and 11-of-20 in each.
