Jessica Brown (Terra State), Frank Latham (Edison State) and their respective squads all went 2-0 last week, springboarding this pair of student-athletes to earning OCCAC Player of the Week honors for Jan. 19-25.
Brown shot at a 68 percent (15-22) clip during two Titan triumphs, averaging 24.0 points per game. The freshman guard also forced herself to the charity stripe over and over versus Lorain County. She not only got there, but converted a school record 15 consecutive foul shots at one point. Brown also distributed nine assists in total while posting a half dozen rebounds in both games.
Latham corrals his second weekly accolade this season following two league wins over Owens and Cuyahoga. He, too, was very efficient offensively with a 67 percent (20-30) shooting performance — scoring 23 points at Owens and 21 more against Cuyahoga. Latham was extremely active with eight offensive rebounds and 14 overall. He added two blocks, an assist and steal to his week’s stat line.
