
Devonte Green (Cuyahoga) rose above a highly worthy group of candidates this week while Abby Yukon (Edison State) was a unanimous selection for OCCAC Player of the Week recognition (Jan. 6-12).
Green accumulated 41 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals during 67 minutes across two games for the Triceratops. In a 102-76 road win at Jamestown, the sophomore wing knocked down 13-of-17 shots for 27 points and did not commit a single turnover. He then came back with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double against Hocking that also included another efficient shooting effort (6-of-9). Green went 19-of-26 (73%) for the week. This represents the second OCCAC weekly honor of his career, earning the distinction previously on Nov. 13, 2023.
Yukon becomes a 3-time winner after posting per-game averages of 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals during a split week for the Chargers. She got hot from long range at Macomb, burying 4-of-6 three-pointers. Later in the week, Yukon netted 22 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals (zero turnovers) in a 90-83 OCCAC road win at Lorain County. Her previous laurels came on Dec. 25, 2023 and Nov. 11, 2024.
