DC Lanier (Owens) and Darian Leslie (Edison State) were knocking down shots left and right, both averaging north of 25 points per game, leading to the OCCAC honoring each as the Player of the Week for Jan. 5-11.
Lanier splashed 13-of-16 (81%) from 3-point range during two wins for the Express. She racked up 58 points in total, adding a dozen rebounds, six assists and five steals while committing just one turnover in 62 minutes of action. Lanier as consistent across the two victories, notching six rebounds, three assists and two-plus steals in both, scoring 35 points vs Muskegon and 23 vs Glen Oaks.
Leslie shot 77 percent (10-13) from the floor, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, in a 26-point performance against Lorain County. He was also responsible for four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Leslie, too, recorded a lone turnover in his 30 minutes played.
