Freshman Jaison Lipscomb (Lakeland) and Hayley St. John (Owens) both earned their first career OCCAC Player of the Week recognition on Monday for the week of Jan. 3-9, 2022.
JAIDON LIPSCOMB
Lakeland Community College
Lipscomb chipped in everywhere during a pair of Laker victories--a road win at #12 Niagara County and conference triumph over Lorain County. He corralled 42 points, 11 assists, nine rebounds, three blocks and a steal in the two games combined. Lipscomb shot 55% (17-31) from the field, including 40% (6-15) from beyond the 3-point arc. He steered the offense to a 90.0 points per game average, netting 21 points himself in both outings and dishing out at least five assists in both as well.
HAYLEY ST. JOHN
Owens Community College
St. John was the catalyst in an 18-8 third-quarter edge for Owens that flipped a 32-30 halftime deficit into a 48-40 upperhand heading to the final period. She single-handedly outscored conference foe Bryant & Stratton by putting in nine points during the decisive third frame. For the game, St. John totaled 19 points, four rebounds and an assist in 28 minutes played. She converted on half of her 16 field goal attempts.
St. John is the third different Owens representative to win this honor in 2021-22, joining Malorie Schroeder (Nov. 22) and Cierra Harris (Dec. 13).
