Springfield, Ohio---Niki Polce and Haley Litman have been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) Division II and Division III players of the week in women's volleyball for Sept. 11-17.

Polce led the No. 2 Owens volleyball team to three more straight set wins last week by totaling double digit digs in each match.

In a win over Cuyahoga last Wednesday, Polce totaled 15 digs, two assists and one ace. She then added 15 more digs and one ace in a straight set win over NJCAA D-III No. 7 Columbus State. She closed the week with 13 digs, three aces and one assist in a sweep of Hocking on Saturday.

Polce, who has helped lead Owens to a 15-0 record to open the season without dropping a set, has totaled 175 digs, 24 assists and 23 aces this year. Her team will be on the road tomorrow for a 6 p.m. matchup against Edison State Community College.

Litman's defensive efforts helped No. 7 Columbus State last week despite a pair of tough losses to NJCAA D-II Owens and Edison.

In a five set loss to Edison, Litman had 30 digs and one kill. She then had 16 digs in a loss to Owens. She also had 31 digs in a four set win over Lorain County this past Saturday.

Litman has 307 digs, nine aces, four assists and three kills for Columbus State through 13 matches. She has helped the Cougars start the season 9-4 overall and 5-3 in OCCAC play. Her team will be on the road at Lakeland for a 6 p.m. matchup tomorrow.

NOTES

This is the second OCCAC Division II player of the week award of the season for Polce, who also won it the season's opening week.

For Litman, her award marks the fourth straight week a player from Columbus State has earned Division III recognition. She joins Abigail Lucas, who won the season's first week, and Allie Rutter, who won the past two weeks. Rutter was also named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III player of the week last week.
