Cuyahoga's Ciolek Earns OCCAC Player of the Week In Volleyball

Springfield, Ohio---Payton Ciolek, a freshman setter/right side hitter for the Cuyahoga Community College women's volleyball team, has been named the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) player of the week.

In three conference matches last week, Ciolek totaled 34 kills, 71 assists, 10 aces, 22 digs and four blocks. In a three set loss to Columbus State, she had 10 kills, 20 assists and eight digs. She followed that up with 12 kills, 30 assists and 10 digs in a four set win over Lorain County. Then, in a five set win over Cincinnati State, she had 12 kills, 21 assists, seven aces and four digs.

Overall, Ciolek has 70 kills, 163 assists, 33 aces, 104 digs and 11 blocks in 20 matches this year.

Cuyahoga is currently 15-10 overall and 5-5 in OCCAC play, which puts them in fourth place in the league standings. The team hosts Mercyhurst North East tonight before taking on Lorain County tomorrow and Edison on Friday before wrapping up the week against Wright State Lake campus on Saturday. 

Notes

Ciolek is the second player from Cuyahoga to be named the conference's player of the week this season. She joins Holly Hoffman, who earned the honor on Sept. 18.
