Gyori Earns Second OCCAC Player of the Week Honor Of The Season

Springfield, Ohio---Brooke Gyori, a sophomore defensive specialist for the Owens Community College women's volleyball team, has been named the OCCAC player of the week for the week of Oct. 3-9.

Last week, Gyori led the No. 2 ranked Owens volleyball team to a 5-1 record. Her team's week included a conference win over Cuyahoga Community College and a five set win on the road over No. 4 Catawba Valley Community College, along with neutral site wins over a pair of NJCAA Division I teams.

Gyori began the week with nine digs, two aces and one assist in a straight set win over Cuyahoga as Owens stayed undefeated in conference play.

Then, Gyori led the team to a 4-1 record in the Catawba Valley Invitational. She produced a season-high 32 digs, along with two assists and one ace in a five set win over No. 4 Catawba Valley. Following that, she had at least 15 digs in each match, including 21 digs in a three set win over NJCAA Division I Monroe College. 

Overall, Gyori produced 108 digs, 10 assists, 10 aces and one kill last week. This year, she has 463 digs, 55 assists, 48 aces and eight kills for Owens, which is 27-4 overall entering Friday's home conference tilt against Columbus State Community College.

Notes

This is Gyori's fourth career conference player of the week award. She also won Sept. 20 and Oct. 25 of last year, as well as Sept. 30 of this year.
